How the EEN network helps Ukrainian and Polish SMEs to establish business
From June 5 to 7, an international conference dedicated to sustainable development was held in Lviv Region. It was organized by the APPAU Association, a member of the EEN-Ukraine consortium. Thanks to the wide opportunities for networking and matchmaking, the conference resulted in 2 successful stories of Polish and Ukrainian entrepreneurs.
Bartosz Kaminsky is director of CLS Group from Krakow, he has long been looking for partners in the logistics business in Ukraine. The visit to Industrial Park in Horodok, Lviv Region on 5th of June provided an opportunity to get acquainted with the possibilities of the park and its management. Mr. Kaminsky was invited to this mission by colleagues from the Lesser Poland Voivodeship and the Krakow Polytechnic, the EEN contact point. The Horodok’s Industrial Park, opened in 2010, is a unique logistics complex and is the first of its kind in the country. Located on an area of 40 hectares, it includes office and warehouse spaces, a customs office, several processing plants, and as well as plots of land for orchards and the cultivation of ornamental plants. Due to its location only 70 km from the Polish border, the complex has great prospects for the development of industrial production oriented towards the European Union.
As a result, the Ukrainian logistics company Zahid Resurs, which is the main operator of the Industrial Park in Horodok, and CLS Group signed an agreement according to which Polish goods are already arriving in Ukraine. Bartosz Kaminski is delighted with the cooperation of PE “Horodok” and is considering new opportunities to expand cooperation.

The second success story of this conference is about the entry of a Ukrainian company into the Polish market.
Yury Shchyrin, CEO of AIM Group from Kyiv has a number of specialized businesses, among them a startup developing software from the CRM geo-information system for the construction industry. At the Lviv conference, Yuriy met the representatives of the Krakow Technology Park, Ludmila Friedrich and Daniel Kesler. Polish partners invited Yuriy to Krakow.
In December 2023, during a visit to the Krakow Technology Park, Yuriy decided to open his office in this park. The role of the office is to establish relations with Polish partners and potential distributors of AIM Group software, as well as to establish exchanges with partners in the construction materials markets. In this field, the AIM Group research agency is the Ukrainian leader in market research. Andrzej Czulak, CEO of the Krakow cluster of composite materials, was among the Krakow partners who attended the Lviv conference. Yuriy has agreements with Andrzej on cooperation in this area in the projects of Recovery of Ukraine.

These examples show how the EEN network works and how important it is to combine this SME development tool with others, such as cluster ones.
The forum in Lviv took place thanks to the financial and media support of the EEN-Ukraine consortium.
