Twin Transition in the Textile Industry — Best EU Practices
When: December, 2d
Time: 15:00–16:30 CET
Registration required
The GDT Textile project is the first project in Ukraine aimed to develop the roadmap for twin transition at the industry level. The project is gaining momentum. The survey of Ukrainian SMEs showed the relative lagging of the Textile industry behind others, big challenges in waste management, and switching to new technologies of Industry 4.0. However, the exchanges demonstrated a big interest of industry stakeholders in innovations, and we found great examples of the technological leadership of big enterprises. In this context, the next webinar on 2d December is important to share best practices and experiences with foreign associations and clusters.
The Textile industry is one of the 14 industrial ecosystems in the EU’s focus, and the European Commission is paying special attention to the green transition of this sector, which is one of the industrial leaders in waste generation. Digitalization is also challenging for the textile industry, where many production processes are still based on manual labor. Both challenges are relevant in Ukraine — the importance of the green transition is increasing due to the lack of waste management infrastructure. At the same time, automation and digitalization have been slow to enter the textile industry due to the availability of cheap labor. Therefore, how foreign countries tackle both of these challenges will be the central theme of our event on December, 2d.
