The Association of “Industrial Automation Enterprises of Ukraine” (abbreviated APPAU) is an association of legal entities, a non-profit organization, founded in 2011. It unites participants of the industrial automation and IT market – ACS system integrators, software and hardware developers, vendors, universities, industrial enterprises and end consumers of products.

Over the years, APPAU has become one of the leaders in the development of industrial hi-tech sectors. The association is the coordinator of the national movement “Industry 4.0 in Ukraine” and the developer of the project of the national strategy of Industry 4.0, the curator of the Technical Committee 185 “Industrial Automation”, the ideologist of the concepts of the network of Industry 4.0 Centers, EAM clusters, industrial accelerators and sectoral road maps of digital transformation, etc. In these and other projects, APPAU cooperates with numerous partners, including central and regional executive bodies.

The values of the community are a focus on broad cooperation, leadership, innovation, professionalism, as well as the course on integration into the Eurospace.

The goals of the association until 2023 are the following:

• Continuation and strengthening of a broad educational program of the market in modern technologies of industrial automation and IT, Industry 4.0. Programs like these create demand and accelerate innovation, which is important for all members of the association.
• Developmen of road maps of digital transformation in 3 branches of industry – agro-processing, metallurgy and machine building.
• Creation of an innovative ecosystem of Industry 4.0, within which development of 5 Centers of Expertise is envisaged, as well as launch of 2 accelerators of Industry 4.0.
• Strengthening the potential of Ukrainian high-tech industrial actors through specialized training and innovation development programs.
• Creation of a national cluster policy, including 7 EAM (Engineering-Automation-Machinery) clusters in the regions of Ukraine.
• Launch of the program of export and internationalization of Ukrainian innovators of Industry 4.0 and other members of APPAU.

In accordance with these goals, during 2018-20, APPAU developed a network of Centers 4.0 in Kyiv, Odesa and Kharkiv, a network of EAM clusters (Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv), translated and implemented technical standards (5 Industry 4.0 standards in the aCampus project), created several road map projects of digital transformation (railway and agro-processing industry), as well as a large number of educational and development documents.

Membership in APPAU

The statute of the association provides for 3 types of membership:

• valid members – membership fees are 20,000 hryvnias per year.
• associate members – 10,000 hryvnias per year.
• academic members – 5,000 hryvnias per year.

The admission procedure involves filling out an application for admission and, after receiving invoice, paying membership fees.

Structure of the APPAU Board 

Representatives of the association’s members are elected to the structure of the Board. The Board carries out general management of the association’s activities in the period between General Meetings, as well as control over activities of the Executive Administration. The structure of the Board takes into account new challenges that arise with the growth of the association – such as a larger number of members and categories of market participants, development in complex and strategic areas of activity (Industry 4.0, Funds), acceleration of development in strategic areas, where currently there are low rates (TC 185, leadership of technical experts, etc.).
